Eshita's Guide to Los Angeles
"Los Angeles: the City of Angels… It certainly is a fitting name!
What was originally meant to be a long weekend girls trip, ended up taking a work-oriented angle as I met up with two of our latest angel investors in the US.
Read on to explore how I mix business with pleasure on my trips abroad."
Where did you stay?
Soho House Holloway - the perfect location for getting around the very chic Melrose Place, Sunset Tower Hotel and Beverly Hills Hotel. Also has a beautiful rooftop terrace, and perfect for work meetings.
Your top style tip whilst in Los Angeles
I know everyone always says to dress down and wear lounge/activewear only, but I disagree. I did however go for an “effortless” look - with casual solid coloured dresses to match with my limited edition Chanel LA Disco bag – rented of course! So my top tip would be to accessorise with one interesting piece.
What did you pack?
- Chanel Black and Silver Sequin bag
- Chanel Disco LA bag
- Marcia fuschia dress
- Alessandra Rich velvet short bow dress
- Jean Paul Gaultier dress
- Chanel ballet flats
- Escada cashmere coat
- Cabin suitcase
- Taylor Morris and Linda Farrow sunglasses
Where to eat in Los Angeles?
- Alfred’s Coffee on Melrose Place for a matcha
- Joan’s on Third for a casual lunch grab
- Sunset Tower Hotel for martinis and dinner, imagine a darker, sexier Chiltern Firehouse
- The Brig Bar in Venice for that dive bar experience with locals - not for the fainthearted, because you will stand out!
- Urth cafe if like me, you prefer the more classic, more mature LA scene
- Gjelina for dinner in Venice
- The Beverly Hills Hotel for breakfast or lunch because it is an icon!
- Grab a smoothie at Erewhon to be an elite local
- Little House Malibu if you can score an invite ;)
What to do whilst in Los Angeles?
- Forma Pilates: the original invite-only reformer Pilates (clients include Hailey Bieber, Kendall Jenner etc.) with a view of Beverly Hills. Just wow. And ouch!
- Get a tarot or psychic reading… for the LOLs if anything!
- Secondhand shopping: I absolutely loved the secondhand and designer resale stores in LA. I scored a 1997 Jean Paul Vintage Egyptian print dress (which you can now rent from me!) from Uncommon Thread in Melrose Place and a silk gown by The Row from The Real Real in Melrose Avenue.
- People watching and martini-sipping: At the Sunset Tower hotel, you’ll feel like you’re in a Hollywood movie.
- Drive up to Malibu, the views are panoramic! To imagine people live here, everyday… If possible, have a tea/drink while watching the sunset over Little House Malibu, I felt like I was in the Olsen twins’ So Little Time (IYKYK)...
- The $23 Erewhon smoothie - Just do it…
Where are you heading next?
